A racecar-free email . . . in my inbox, in May?

It's just because we love you!

Right now y’all are catching us in the few quiet days between our spring and summer intern classes. It’s a magical time of, well, meetings. Like a lot of meetings amid all the sh*t we need to take care of.

Speaking of sh*t, you can keep a secret, right?

Don’t tell Polina you heard it here, but we’re working on a total brand overhaul as a companion piece to our new strategic plan. We’ve seen it, and we’re over-the-moon obsessed. Keep an eye out for changes here and there over the coming months.

Anyway, enough about us.

You know mutual funds*? We know, it’s a terrible pick-up line, but stay with us. Some of these funds fall under "Impact Investing"—these kinds of mutual funds let people invest in organizations doing good for the world, without the risk of putting all their money toward one company.

How is this relevant to us?

Places like Upstart Co-Lab are making Impact Investing mutual funds for the creative economy. Needless to say, we're a big fan of this idea! The best part of all this is not only are these funds proving to be good for the creative economy, they also have a lot of promise for the investor's financial return. And this is only the beginning!

Want to learn more about what this could mean for the creative economy? Read more about Upstart Co-Lab's creative economy funds here.

*Mutual fund: an investment fund that pools money from many investors and splits that investment equally between a diverse range of stocks, bonds, and more.

Experience black musical excellence—GANGGANG and Forty5 will present the black rock festival “I Made Rock n Roll” on May 18 at 1 pm. Featuring Janelle Monáe, Gary Clark Jr., Robert Randolph Band, and more. We can’t wait for this festival to not only rock our socks off but also teach us more about the real roots and creators of rock ‘n’ roll, which comes from Black rhythm and blues.

Swing by The Stutz 12-6pm on May 19 for an all-ages block party celebrating new tenants and another great year! The event will feature live music, food, games, and more. Check out the car museum, artist studios, and interact with the community. Yeah, okay, we’re biased . . . but we also know this will be a great opportunity to network, make new friends, and get to know new businesses and artists in Indianapolis!

Hi, my name is Emily Worrell, and I am a Baby Reindeer addict. Seriously. I’m on episode three and it’s like a car crash: I can’t stop cringing, but for some reason I can’t look away!

Speaking of drama, I’ve got tickets to see Indy Shakes + Zach&Zack’s production of Julius Caesar: A Modern Adaptation this Friday with one of my favorite people (my mom)! I’m excited to see how the production team makes this political thriller applicable to modern times.

Thanks you for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed it and found some fun things to do around Indy!
