Where are you from?

I am from Indianapolis, Indiana.

Tell us a little bit about your educational background.

I am a rising senior at Indiana University Bloomington pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in media advertising with a concentration in media planning.

What is your proudest moment, and can you describe it for us?

One of my proudest moments was becoming president of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) IU Bloomington chapter my junior year. This experience was pivotal to me in my development as a campus leader. It also allowed me to experiment with content creation, creative directing, and interviewing, which I grew a passion for. As president, my advocacy for creatives, media professionals, and the Media School heightened because of the hands-on experiences I did and networks that I built.

Why did you want to become an intern at Pattern?

I wanted to become an intern at Pattern because I was attracted to the combination of creativity and business, a concept I had always searched for in professional fields but found myself limited in opportunities. Pattern being a nonprofit that supports small creatives in an ecosystem that is limited in regards to support for creatives drew me in. I have always been an advocate for the underrepresented and Pattern has those qualities that I look for.

What’s your favorite spot in Indy, and why do you like to go there?

My favorite spot in Indy is the Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park because of the fun concert experiences I’ve had there. I’ve been able to see some of my favorite artists perform live and share those experiences with my friends in my hometown, with those memories being there forever.

What’s one album you consider to be perfect?

I’m a huge fan of Drake so one album that is perfect to me is Nothing Was the Same.

If you were to go on a reality TV show, which one would you go on and why?

I probably would go on the Real Housewives series or Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard. I like that these shows are ongoing. They continue to tell the stories of the cast members’ lives, and you get a sense of relatability when watching the show as opposed to your traditional one-off dating shows.

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

I would want to have dinner with the singer Sade.

What are your career aspirations beyond Pattern?

At Pattern, I hope to gain valuable real-world experience in storytelling through the creative lens. This is something I find myself drawn to and want to take the skills that I learn into my future career.
