Where are you from?

I am originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana. I lived in Phoenix, Arizona for a long time, about seven years, and then I moved back to Fort Wayne. And then I moved to Muncie for college at Ball State University.

Tell us a little bit about your educational background.

So, at Ball State, I majored in fashion industry studies and minoring in journalism. I was also the vice president of our fashion club, which is called Fashion Industry Studies Club, and I did that for all four years of college.

Can you tell us a little more about your professional background?

Since I was in high school, I've been doing internships and things like that. In terms of fashion things, when I was in high school, I did an internship with a boutique, and I kind of fell in love with the fashion thing. And then during college, I worked at Men’s Warehouse for a while in retail. That was my internship during college. I learned a lot about how a business works and buying. And then, after I graduated, I got more into journalism. In college I worked with this publication called the Town Post, and wrote a couple things for them, just to get experience. After that, they offered me a paid position where they’d send me things they wanted me to report on and I’d go do it. So I’ve been doing that since I’ve graduated.

What is your proudest moment, and can you describe it for us?

My proudest moment, honestly…I’ve been very proud at a lot of moments, but I think one that comes to mind first would be at Ball State in this fashion club that we were doing. We held a lot of events and one that I was very proud of was our fashion show. Me and the president worked a lot on it. It was hard because we were doing a bulk of the work, but it ended up being really cool and it was received very well.

Why did you want to become a fellow at Pattern?

My junior year at Ball State, we did a tour of the Pattern office. I fell in love with the space and I just loved the community and company culture and I just thought it’d be a great place for me.

What’s your favorite spot or hidden gem in Indy, and why do you like to go there?

It’s not a hidden gem, but my favorite place is the Goodwill Bins. You can definitely get a lot of stuff there. The one in Noblesville is the one I really like to go to, but the one I usually go to is in Lawrence, and it’s a big warehouse where you pay by the pound. And you can just look through all these bins.

What is one album that you consider perfect?

I’m gonna say Whack World by Tierra Whack. It’s just banger after banger. It’s just a no-skip album for me.

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

Honestly, what first comes to mind is Michael Jackson and I don’t even know if I can explain that, but I would really just love to have a conversation with him. He seems like such an interesting human that I feel like I would have so many things to talk about.

If you were to go on a reality show, which one would you go on and why?

Honestly, any kind of British baking show. I’m not even British, but it would be so fun and interesting.

What are your career aspirations after Pattern?

I feel like I have always had a pretty good idea about what my career aspirations are in terms of fashion. Originally, I wanted to go into the fashion industry. And when I went to college, I did fashion and journalism specifically so I could get into the magazine industry. I just want to be able to talk about things that I find important, because there’s a lot of issues within the fashion industry that need to be talked about more. I just want to be able to make an impact in fashion or journalism.
