Meet Our Spring Interns!
Check out the amazing humans who will help keep Pattern ticking this spring.
Happy 2025, Pattern fam! It’s hard to believe we’re more than halfway through January already, and—besides our digital cover with Preston Singletary—we haven’t told you much about what’s going on in our world (oops).
But here we are! And we want to reflect for a moment on your generosity (not only during the end of the year but throughout the year). Countless causes are worthy of your donations, so we don’t take your decision to give to Pattern lightly and are extremely grateful for your collective support.
Thanks to you, we’ve added TWO fantastic interns to our team for the spring, Shayla and Bianca! They’re wicked talented team players, so we’re kinda obsessed with them—we know you will be, too! Read on to learn more about these amazing humans.
Stay warm, friends!

Where are you from?
Bianca Maregatti: I'm from Indy. I grew up all over the place. I lived between Castleton, Carmel, and Irvington as a teenager. I left Indiana when I was 17 and lived in many different states before returning a few months ago.
Tell us a little bit about your educational background.
BM: I went to Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Like a lot of kids, I went to college undecided. I've always had a passion for beauty and makeup, so it was a no-brainer when a major that encompassed those things was offered. I was enamored. The official title is the Business of Beauty and Fragrance. Students learn how cosmetics and perfumes are made and about the business and marketing side—a well-rounded program.
What is your proudest moment, and can you describe it for us?
BM: Looking back on it now, I realize my proudest moment was my decision to leave New York. For a long time, during my education and post-grad, I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. I was happy; I just didn't have the directions. When I finally left, I was fortunate enough to be around family, figure out what I wanted to do, and foster a vision that led me to where I am today.
Why did you want to become an intern at Pattern?
BM: Since returning to Indiana, I've found a community of artists and friends I want to join. In turn, I discovered Pattern. They create an excellent arts and culture community and foster its economic growth. I want to help build this community.
What's your favorite spot in Indy, and why do you like to go there?
BM: I love Loudmouth Books. It's super fun; It's a place that I really enjoy being in. However, my bank account does not. Or I also really like Golden Hour books next to Luna Music. It's essential to have places that sell physical media.
Who is your #1 celebrity crush, and what do you like about them?
BM: I don't really have a crush on anyone right now, but Andrew Garfield is a celebrity who has piqued my interest. I recently listened to the Modern Love podcast from the NYT, where he guest-starred and WOW. I think he's such a sweetie-pie. He is so ready and willing to be open and vulnerable, which I admire.
If you were to go on a reality TV show, which one would you go on and why?
BM: The Great British Baking Show or Is it Cake? By no means do I have the skill level, but it will be very fun. If not those, then, Too Hot to Handle. It's just for the pure comedy factor.
What are your career aspirations beyond Pattern?
BM: I want to stay in this space, whether that be in the non-profit sector or just helping creatives. I want to immerse myself in the community and help people achieve their dreams.

Where are you from?
Shayla Roy: My hometown is New Albany, IN, about two hours south, in the Kentucky-Indiana area. I've lived there most of my life and moved to Indy to attend IUI.
Tell us a little bit about your educational background.
SR: When I graduated from New Albany High School, I was looking at a lot of schools, but I decided on IUI. I'm a 21st Century Scholar, so I decided to go there, and I wanted to do something with art. I wanted to challenge myself to do something else because before, I was more into traditional art, such as painting and drawing. So I decided to go the more digital route, and I ended up with graphic design, which I really enjoy.
What is your proudest moment, and can you describe it for us?
SR: Honestly, my proudest moment is probably right now. I am the first person in my family to have attended a four-year university degree. I graduate in May. It's not only for me but for them as well.
Why did you want to become an intern at Pattern?
SR: I've had a couple of friends who have interned at Pattern and have enjoyed their time here. It was a cool place to work. I like how Pattern is about fostering the creative community and economy here in Indy, and it's imperative to me as a creative. This is where I want to be and the kind of people I want to be around.
What's your favorite spot in Indy, and why do you like to go there?
SR: My favorite spot is Bluebeard. I love Bluebeard so much that you have to make me stop talking about it. It's a farm-to-table, upscale restaurant with an innovative, constantly rotating menu. It's just a great place, and the chefs are all amazing.
Who is your #1 celebrity crush, and what do you like about them?
SR: My favorite music of all time is BTS. I have been a fan of them since 2014, so I've been in it. And, yes, they're a group of 7, but they are all my favorite. It's normal to like all the members, but my bias (favorite) in BTS is Jimin.
If you were to go on a reality TV show, which one would you go on and why?
SR: That's a really good question. Oh my gosh, there are so many now… Wife Swap. I don't think that show would thrive in today's society, but I feel like it would be fun. Or maybe Survivor.
What are your career aspirations beyond Pattern?
SR: I want to tie my passions for food, traveling, and learning about other cultures into graphic design. Maybe design for a travel agency, do branding for restaurants, or package design. I want to find a job where I can combine what I love with what I do.
And that’s Bianca and Shayla in a nutshell! Thank you for reading up and getting to know them. Here’s to a fantastic 2025, all!
P.S. We love these guys!
